A Love Supreme Impro Festival | A festival dedicated to avant-garde music, focusing on young musicians engaged in improvisation and creative music. The artists present repertoires that deviate from mainstream logic, performing in ways that highlight the acoustic qualities of the spaces, creating a unique experience deeply connected to the location. The name of the festival pays homage to the 1965 album by John Coltrane, a masterpiece where the saxophonist intertwines musical exploration with spirituality.
Opening act: Yannis Maizan – saxophone | An Italian-French saxophonist from Trieste, Yannis Maizan graduated in jazz saxophone from the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Trieste, under the guidance of Klaus Gesing, Roberto Dani, and Giovanni Maier. He has performed in France, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Spain, and Slovakia in various jazz, classical, and contemporary ensembles, collaborating with productions such as TBA Academy, Ocean Space, and Daisy’s Big Band.
Main act: Genera: Luce Venitucci – piano, melodica, Dario Miranda – double bass, Ermanno Baron – drums | Genera moves between extemporaneous composition and fluid, open, and flexible forms that structure improvisation without rigidifying it. While drawing on the tradition of the jazz piano trio, the group expands this reference by exploring unpredictable territories: explosive free jazz and driving grooves alternate with more introspective and chamber-like moments, while acoustic and electroacoustic sounds blend with expansive, almost ambient atmospheres. “Active Observation,” their debut album released in 2023 by Aut Records, was named one of the top 10 albums of the year by Blow Up and Il Giornale della Musica.
A Love Supreme Impro Festival is conceived and promoted by the Gemma Association.
