Organised at the Palazzo delle Arti (PAN) in Naples by the city’s Department for Culture and Tourism in collaboration with the Alberto Peruzzo Foundation and the Prometeo Gallery, and with the technical support of Editori Paparo, the temporary exhibition Sotto Sopra brings together all the previously unseen works by the artist Omar Hassan, created specifically for PAN and the city of Naples.
By stripping his pictorial gestures of colour, thus revealing the true soul of the concept, the artist has sought to achieve a politics of the intérieur by highlighting the work’s most intimate aspect. He has worked with the colours black and white, the true protagonists in this attempt to highlight pictorial gestures of synthesis, so that colour becomes a fundamental extension of the artist’s expression. Sotto Sopra invites us to reflect on the importance of the individual in our society and the right attention we should pay to the place where we live and where future generations will live.
